PGSE Holds Commencement 2016

On July 6, the 2016 Commencement and Degree Awarding Ceremony of Graduate School of Education, Peking University (PGSE), was solemnly held in Lecture Hall of GSE Building. Students, faculty, and staff including Prof. Min Weifang, Honorary Dean of PGSE, Prof. Chen Xiaoyu, Dean of PGSE, and Prof. Yan Fengqiao, senior professor of PGSE were all present at the commencement, with some graduates’ relatives and friends participating in it. The ceremony was chaired by Prof. Liu Yunshan, Associate Dean of PGSE.

 Prof. Yue Changjun, Associate Dean of PGSE, briefed the employment status of graduates in 2016, and announced the lists of students who gained the doctor or master degrees and authors who submitted outstanding dissertations. The excellent graduates were awarded certificates of honor presented by Prof. Chen Xiaoyu, dean of PGSE.

Prof. Chen Xiaoyu, Dean of PGSE, delivered a lecture titled “The Times of Education”, encouraging the graduates to be committed to education, keep moving on and make some difference in the present times of increasingly importance of education.

  On behalf of all supervisors, Prof. Yan Fengqiao pointed out that the knowledge was a bridge connecting students and faculties in university, and hoped that graduates could develop a good reading habit, and pursue the unknown and explore the profound after graduation.

  Li Modi (an international student from U.S.A.), Liu Zhao, and Wang Shaofeng, representing the delegates of master, PhD and Ed.D graduate respectively, made wonderful speeches. They discoursed the thinking about the educational difference in different cultures, shared profound understanding in study life, or expressed the gratitude to faculties at PGSE and the sadness of finishing the study career.

Prof. Min Weifang, Honorary Dean of PGSE, expressed his expectations and blessings to all graduates. He suggested that graduates, who were in the prime time of their life, should make continuous efforts in both work and life in the future, keep up with the times, and maintain the quality of PKUers’.
