Center for Qualitative Research of Education
Based on its in-depth study of important issues in education, the Center for Qualitative Research in Education, Peking University, has put forward the paradigm “Praxis-Reflection Qualitative Research in Education” with its basic ideas and approaches. It organizes an annual conference on qualitative research, and publishes series such as Qualitative Research: Reflection and Review, PhD Students’ Dissertations in Qualitative Research, and Translation of Qualitative Research Books, as well as academic papers. The researchers of the Center are currently offering four courses on qualitative research methodology, hold an annual summer school on qualitative research in social sciences, and provide training to tens of research organizations. Prof. Xiangming Chen, director of the Center, is a well-known expert in qualitative research methodology in China. Her book Qualitative Research Method in Social Sciences has become an important reference in many Chinese universities. The goal of the Center is to become a world class research base in education, leading the frontier of Chinese qualitative research in social sciences, based on the Chinese socio-cultural tradition and dialogue with theories from other parts of the world.
